Steve began his technology journey with Texas Instruments in 1977, marketing PLCs and industrial process control systems. In 1981 Steve joined Andover Controls, headquartered outside of Boston in Andover, MA. A pioneer in Direct Digital Control technology (DDC), Andover Controls grew rapidly throughout the 1980’s and 90’s before being acquired by Schneider Electric. At Andover Steve rose to the position of Vice President of Systems and Services from 1995-1998. Preceding roles included Director of European Sales, during which Steve managed Andover’s European sales operations from Konstanz, Germany, and Director of Marketing.
In 1999 Steve and his family moved to Charlottesville, VA. He served as General Manager for a Facility Automation start-up whose products were marketed through Tyco Fire & Security before joining Richmond-based company Tridium in 2004. Steve served as Vice President of Sales for Tridium from 2004-2006 and President from 2006 to 2012. Tridium, the inventor of the Niagara Framework, is the recognized market leader for its IoT integration platform. As President Steve oversaw a dramatic increase in sales growth, averaging 23% annually, drove the expansion of Tridium’s presence in Europe and Asia Pacific, and guided the implementation of formal processes across all major departments.
Most recently Steve worked within the IT industry, serving as President and Chief Operating Officer for Proxios, a mid-Atlantic, “IT as a Service” firm providing comprehensive cloud-based services to small and mid-sized companies. It was within the IT space that Steve developed a greater knowledge of the security landscape and the various security risks facing companies today, as well as experience applying Agile practices beyond software development to project and product management teams.
Steve adheres to a management approach that follows the Rockefeller Habits with emphasis on the values that underscore the company’s interactions with employees, customers and shareholders, particularly as outlined by Verne Harnish in his book Scaling Up: How a Few Companies Make It... and Why the Rest Don't.
Steve is member of the Virginia Council of CEO’s, loves hiking, particularly in the Adirondack mountains in upstate New York, and a good round of golf.
